Hey parents?! Do you read to your little one daily? If so, we have a PRO TIP for you that may improve reading time and blow your mind 🤯 👏
INSTEAD of: Sitting next to your toddler during story time OR facing your child away from you (so you are both facing in the same direction)👶🏻↔️👩🏼
TRY: Placing them ACROSS from you 👶🏻↕️👩🏼
Here’s why:
📖 Position your baby so they can see you and you can see them! You should be EYE to EYE! Why?
📖 So your baby can then see your facial expressions and your mouth as you articulate words and sounds!
📖So you can also see what your baby is looking at in the book! (This way you know what they are interested in!)
📖 Make reading fun and interactive… this should keep your baby engaged for a longer time! (e.g. Feed characters, pop balloons, touch the sun and say “ow hot”!)
📖 Stop reading all the words (for now). Highlight important words and make fun noise effects and voices to keep your baby interested.
📖 If your baby wants to keep reading the same book over and over again…DO IT. Repetition will help your little one remember and master all of the words you keep saying!
