“Not now. I’ve got to feed the baby.”
“No, later. I’ve got to give the baby a bath.”
If every time your toddler wants to do something, he hears, “No. Sorry. The baby needs x/y/z,” resentments will grow.
Rephrase things so you take the emphasis off the baby. Instead say something like, “Oh, I’d love to read you a book. Go pick one and let’s read it together before nap time.”
