Early on, toddlers have a hard time understanding how to share. They don’t yet know that people are individual beings and it’s not their ball!

There can be many reasons why early sharing is such an issue:

❌They have immature brains and the impulse areas are still works in progress.
❌Toddlers don’t yet understand they are separate individuals. They can’t see a situation from another’s point of view. ⁣which is needed to understand sharing.
❌At the same time, they don’t understand that things belong to other people too. ⁣
❌Now factor in that toddlers don’t really understand time, so saying, “In 5 minutes, it will be your brother’s turn to play with the ball,” doesn’t work in a practical sense.
❌They aren’t being selfish when they don’t share early on. They’re trying to understand the world 🌎 around them. ⁣
