This tidbit is intended to make it easier for you when your child asks you to read the same book for the 600th time. ⁣

Reading the same book over and over has many educational benefits. You can imagine that hearing the same words helps with language development.⁣

BUT there are also social-emotional benefits. Toddlers NEED to feel in control. Reading the same book is safe because your toddler knows what to expect, unlike what day-to-day life feels like. ⁣

Reading the same book at bedtime is actually soothing and actually helps your little one doze off. It’s predictable, comforting and cozy. ⁣

You can change things up when you read the same book during the day…but not at bedtime. Same old, same old will help her wind down and fall asleep. ⁣
