Hey parents?! Do you read to your little one daily? If so, we have a PRO TIP for you that may improve reading time and blow your mind π€― πβ β
β β
INSTEAD of: Sitting next to your toddler during story time OR facing your child away from you (so you are both facing in the same direction)πΆπ»βοΈπ©πΌβ β
TRY: Placing them ACROSS from you πΆπ»βοΈπ©πΌβ β
β β
Here’s why:β β
β β
π Position your baby so they can see you and you can see them! You should be EYE to EYE! Why? β β
β β
π So your baby can then see your facial expressions and your mouth as you articulate words and sounds!β β
β β
πSo you can also see what your baby is looking at in the book! (This way you know what they are interested in!)β β
β β
π Make reading fun and interactive… this should keep your baby engaged for a longer time! (e.g. Feed characters, pop balloons, touch the sun and say βow hotβ!)β β
β β
π Stop reading all the words (for now). Highlight important words and make fun noise effects and voices to keep your baby interested.β β
β β
π If your baby wants to keep reading the same book over and over again…DO IT. Repetition will help your little one remember and master all of the words you keep saying! β β
